Lisa & Colin - Hotel Doolin
I love the west coast of our lovely country. I grew up in Connemara, spent Summers in the Aran Islands, and went to college in Galway City. Every year I spend a few weekends down in Spanish Point, Co. Clare to relax and recharge.
So when Lisa & Colin asked me to shoot their wedding in Doolin, I couldn't say yes fast enough!
Everything from the morning prep, to the ceremony, the meal and the dancing, was hosted at the fantastic Hotel Doolin; and we couldn't have asked for better weather.
There's something about spending time so close to the ocean that I always find relaxing. Combine that with such a relaxed and down to earth couple and I almost felt like I was on holiday (but I worked hard, I swear!)
Stories are made up of a bunch of moments; those little smiles, the reassuring hand holding, the laughter. These are the moments we set out to capture in the most unobtrusive way we can.
We blend into the wedding day because we want to see those real moments. Because of this, no two weddings are the same; we strive to tell the couple's personal story.
Below are some of the weddings we've had the honour of capturing.
Enya & Stephen - Glasson Lakehouse
This was FUN! It's the one word that keeps coming back to me when I try to describe this wedding. From the moment I walked into Enya's house in the morning, and saw the banter between her and her sisters, I knew this would be an enjoyable day.
I've always thought that the guests are the most important part of creating a good atmosphere at a wedding; and you could sense how excited these guests were for Enya & Stephen's wedding. They were behind them 100%, cheering and clapping at every opportunity. I can't help but love what I do on days like this.
Emer & Liam - Salthill Hotel
I shot weddings for all three of Emer's sisters before shooting her and Liam's big day. Walking into the house that morning was a bittersweet feeling; it was the fourth time I did it since 2012 so it felt like second nature, but it would also be the last!
This wedding goes to show that rain doesn't matter. No matter how much it poured down, it didn't dampen Emer & Liam's spirits. Their focus was on getting married and having a great time with their guests, and rain wouldn't affect that.
Both fathers knocked their speeches out of the park. Maybe it was because I had already shot three previous family weddings, but I was getting quite emotional listening to them. The love and admiration these families have for each other is plain to see.
